Announcing the New Goodies!

As promised, here is a look at the new goodies :) First, I have tell you something, though. I used to think of dish cloths as the socks of the crochet world. Because knitters love to knit socks. Every knitter I've ever talked to has said something along the lines of "Socks take FOREVER and they are so cheap to buy, I could not imagine why anyone would ever knit socks, until I knit a pair of socks and now? AM.HOOKED." Now, dish cloths don't take forever to crochet. They are actually quite quick. But, the terry cloth versions are very cheap, so I had never bothered with a crochet dish cloth. Then! Then, I needed something to go with my crochet Swiffer covers. I guess I didn't NEED something, but I wanted something to go with them. After all, crochet Swiffer pads would be so lonely and out of place in a shop full of baby hats. They needed a friend. And, dish cloths seemed the natural choice.

OMG! I am hooked. We are now using crochet cloths in the bath and in the kitchen (obviously, I had to field test my patterns...). I love them. In the bath they are both softer AND exfoliate better than the cheap-o ones I've been using. They feel so thick and luxurious. And, they're pretty. In the kitchen, I'm finding that they are cleaning everything better (dishes, counters, floors). And, they're pretty. Let's face it, pretty does count for something.

OK, I'll shut up and show you the goods :)

Home Goodies On the Way

I can't wait to show you guys what I've been up to! But until I can get the new stuff finished and photographed (which is by far the harder part for me!), I wanted to share a story about where the idea came from.

Before my son was born my kitchen floor stayed fairly clean. I actually (and I'm a little ashamed to admit this) never really mopped it. I'd use a Swiffer wet cloth on it every now and then, or spot clean it with a towel, but I never owned a mop.

Enter toddler. Sorry, enter two toddlers, as my sister's daughter eats two meals and a snack here everyday, too. Yeah, my little occasional toweling just isn't cutting it on the clean floor front. Since we've become a single income family as well, I just can't see shelling out $10+ every month on disposable wet cloths. So, obviously, I needed to just buy a mop, right?

Not so much. I looked at my Swiffer pole, and decided I could just turn IT into a mop. So, I did! I have made washable, Swiffer cover that can be used wet or dry. When dry it works every bit as well as the disposable ones. When wet it works as well as a sponge mop (so says my mom, I've already admitted to having no reference point on this one). Guess what? My kitchen floor is cleaner than it's been since, well, probably ever... but, definitely since The Boy has been born. Yay!

The eco-friendly Swiffer Cover (which needs a catchy new name, methinks) spawned a whole mess of ideas for cleaning!

Baby Hooked Update

You might have noticed that there hasn't been a lot of action around here lately. The reason is that February was a HUGE month for us, both personally and professionally. We had so many orders in February it was insane. Good insane, but insane. It was so many orders, though, that blogging and creating fell by the wayside.

That's not good for me. The creating is my favorite part of this "job." So, I've decided to focus more on patterns and creating this spring and summer :) Be looking for more patterns to join the crown pattern in the shop. If you have any suggestions or requests for designs, please let me know!
